Job Summary:
A leading renewable energy company is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Subject Matter Expert (TLSME) to support engineering teams with high-level technical input on transmission line projects. This role requires advanced engineering knowledge, excellent communication, and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced technical support for transmission line projects at 230kV and above.
- Respond to engineering Requests for Information (RFIs) with accurate, timely guidance.
- Develop, interpret, and implement standards for transmission line engineering.
- Lead and mentor project engineers in applying technical requirements.
- Identify and promote opportunities for process and performance improvement.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Act as a technical expert within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Support the design and construction phases of transmission line projects.
- Make independent technical decisions with minimal supervision.
- Guide less experienced engineers and act as a knowledge resource.
- Ensure technical quality, budget, and schedule alignment on assigned projects.
- Engage cross-functional team members to ensure accurate, comprehensive solutions.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience supporting transmission line projects (230kV or above).
- Strong foundation in at least one transmission line engineering discipline.
- Experience in leadership roles or as a technical guide within project teams.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make independent technical judgments.
- Assertive, team-oriented approach with leadership qualities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Comfortable working outside of areas of expertise when necessary.
- Prior experience in a remote work setting is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Field experience in transmission line projects.
- Experience developing engineering standards.
