Role Overview

Our client is an established data center operator with a multi-state footprint seeking a Utility Asset Manager to help oversee substation operations and maintenance planning across a portfolio of sites. This individual will support budgeting, documentation, and performance tracking for the Asset Management group and play a direct role in the financial and operational health of a state or regional book of assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key point of contact between engineering teams and site operations when troubleshooting and resolving unexpected substation issues
  • Help build out the annual budget for the Asset Management group and monitor actuals against plan across assigned locations
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation for the utility asset function
  • Walk sites periodically to confirm grounds, facilities, and equipment meet internal standards
  • Prepare and deliver recurring reporting packages (monthly/quarterly/annual) for internal leadership and outside stakeholders, including lenders and regulators
  • Partner with Facility Operations on longer-range planning that balances operational needs with ownership and investment objectives
  • Support data gathering, analysis, and reporting deliverables for the broader Asset Management function
  • Negotiate and interpret Operations & Maintenance agreements tied to new and existing projects
  • Read through contracts, agreements, and related paperwork to flag risk and confirm terms protect the company
  • Coordinate with peer asset managers to work through open operational items across the broader portfolio
  • Track equipment performance against operational and financial targets, and keep maintenance records current and verified

    What We're Looking For

  • A comfort level reading and negotiating service and O&M agreements
  • 2+ years of experience in asset management within utilities, renewables, or another energy-adjacent sector
  • Prior exposure to managing physical energy infrastructure assets is a plus
  • A track record of building relationships and communicating effectively at every level of an organization, from field techs to executives
  • 4+ years of relevant asset management experience is preferred over the 2-year minimum
  • Comfort traveling roughly a third to 40% of the time to support site visits and stakeholder relationships
