Role Overview
The Engineering & Construction (E&C) Business Unit is seeking a Project Manager to support the development of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
projects.
This position will manage the daily coordination of internal and external resources across Development, Engineering, Estimating, Supply Chain, Scheduling, and Construction. The Project Manager will support projects from the early/pre-construction stage through the point of construction, ensuring projects are technically, financially, and commercially prepared for execution.
This role will oversee multiple projects at different stages of development
across the United States and Canada rather than focusing on a single project.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate highly matrixed project development teams and ensure resources are focused on the right activities at the right time.
- Coordinate with Environmental, Regulatory, Cultural, Land Acquisition, Interconnection, and other project teams.
- Identify and incorporate project variables and requirements into project plans.
- Develop and manage the project's technical scope.
- Evaluate and optimize project variables to improve technical and financial feasibility.
- Support Development and Origination teams with PPA and GIA negotiations.
- Support development teams with jurisdictional and local requirements.
- Coordinate engineering, estimating, procurement, and scheduling requirements.
- Provide technical information to engineering teams to support project design.
- Support cost estimating teams in developing project financial models.
- Research and leverage market data to validate project financial assumptions.
- Present financial models to business units and support executive budget approval processes.
- Manage financial models throughout the project development lifecycle.
- Source, negotiate, and execute contracts for critical services, including:
- Geotechnical services
- Survey services
- Engineering services
- EPC/PC construction services
- Represent E&C interests throughout assigned projects.
- Use project management and software applications to manage data, deliverables, and project performance indicators.
- Support process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
- Communicate with Executive Leadership, suppliers, regulatory agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders.
- Present project progress, risks, issues, and mitigation plans to management.
- Ensure projects transitioning to Construction have a complete, executable, and comprehensive construction plan.
- Support occasional travel to project locations and local public hearings.
Project Portfolio
This position manages multiple projects simultaneously, with projects at different stages of development.
The current portfolio includes projects across the United States and Canada.
Occasional travel may be required to:
- Visit assigned project locations.
- Support Development teams during local public hearings.
- Meet with project stakeholders and partners.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to coordinate multiple teams and projects simultaneously.

- Experience with engineering and construction of renewable energy projects.
- Experience with electricity markets.
- Experience with renewable energy projects.
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- PMP certification.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with project financial modeling and budgeting.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced Project Manager who understands renewable energy project development
and can coordinate technical, financial, commercial, engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
The candidate should be comfortable managing multiple projects, working with executives and external stakeholders, negotiating contracts, analyzing financial models, and preparing projects for successful transition into construction.
