We are seeking an experienced Civil & Structural Engineer to support the development and execution of complex power generation projects, including gas turbine generation, solar PV, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
This role will provide technical leadership and oversight across civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering activities throughout the full project lifecycle — from development and engineering through construction and commissioning.
The Civil & Structural Engineer will serve as a key technical representative, coordinating with EPC contractors, engineering consultants, equipment vendors, and internal project teams to ensure designs are technically sound, constructible, code-compliant, and aligned with project cost and schedule objectives.
What You’ll Do
Civil Engineering & Site Development
- Coordinate and oversee civil engineering activities performed by EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
- Review site layouts, grading plans, earthwork, roads, drainage systems, and underground utilities.
- Ensure civil designs meet project requirements and integrate effectively with the overall plant design.
- Review requirements related to flood protection, stormwater management, erosion control, and site access.
- Identify opportunities to optimize site layout, grading, and earthwork quantities to reduce cost, schedule, and construction risk.
- Participate in civil design reviews, value engineering, and constructability assessments.
Structural Engineering
- Oversee structural engineering activities for power generation and balance-of-plant facilities.
- Review foundation designs for gas turbines, generators, transformers, and other major equipment.
- Provide oversight of structural steel, pipe racks, buildings, equipment supports, and structures associated with solar and BESS installations.
- Review engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications for technical accuracy, constructability, and code compliance.
- Review geotechnical investigations and ensure recommendations are incorporated appropriately into foundation and structural designs.
- Coordinate structural interfaces with equipment vendors, including equipment loads, anchor bolts, and embedments.
- Coordinate structural requirements with mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering disciplines.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including ASCE 7, ACI 318, and AISC 360, as well as site-specific wind, seismic, and soil conditions.
- Participate in structural design reviews, value engineering, and constructability assessments.
EPC & Engineering Consultant Oversight
- Serve as the primary civil and structural engineering coordination lead with EPC contractors.
- Define scopes of work, review proposals, and oversee the performance of civil, structural, and geotechnical consultants.
- Monitor the quality, schedule, and budget of EPC and consultant engineering deliverables.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical risk assessments.
- Support the resolution of civil, structural, and geotechnical issues throughout engineering, procurement, and construction.
Regulatory & Stakeholder Coordination
- Support communications with regulatory authorities and other project stakeholders regarding civil and structural engineering requirements and approvals.
- Assist with responses to regulatory comments, technical information requests, and stakeholder inquiries.
- Support public consultation and disclosure activities when required.
Documentation, Reporting & Risk Management
- Maintain organized records of technical studies, engineering documentation, calculations, drawings, and project correspondence.
- Provide regular updates on civil and structural engineering progress, issues, and technical risks.
- Provide civil and structural input into project schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
- Support development reports, internal project approvals, financing materials, and technical due diligence.
- Identify and communicate civil, structural, and geotechnical risks that could impact project cost, schedule, or constructability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 7–10 years of experience supporting civil and structural engineering for power generation, energy, or large industrial infrastructure projects.
- Experience overseeing or coordinating EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
- Working knowledge of civil site development, foundations, structural steel, and power generation facilities.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical design packages.
- Strong technical review, project coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with gas turbine power generation, including simple-cycle or combined-cycle facilities.
- Experience reviewing civil and structural design packages during EPC execution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with structural analysis and civil design software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D.
- Experience supporting solar PV and/or BESS projects.
Key Competencies
- Owner/developer-side EPC and consultant oversight
- Civil, structural, and geotechnical risk management
- Power generation and industrial infrastructure
- Integrated site and plant design coordination
- Engineering design review and quality assurance
- Construction constructability and technical risk assessment
- Engineering code and standards compliance
- Schedule- and cost-conscious decision-making
- Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder management
