Acting on behalf of the Project Owner, the Project Manager is responsible for leading the execution of a portfolio of renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
This role oversees commissioning, startup, and operational turnover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all commissioning activities are executed to a high standard, adhering to company safety policies and procedures
- Coordinate and manage on-site teams, including:
- EPC contractors
- OEM startup personnel
- Third-party commissioning contractors
- Operations teams
- Drive successful project delivery through commissioning, startup, and handover phases
- Ensure reliability at operational turnover, minimizing downtime during initial plant operations
- Maintain compliance with all contractual obligations, including:
- Power Purchase Agreements (PPA)
- Grid interconnection agreements
- Oversee commissioning personnel across multiple sites to ensure consistent execution and compliance
- Provide subject matter expertise to support strategic planning in:
- Safety
- Resource planning
- Quality and efficiency improvements
- Interface with project stakeholders, including safety, engineering, and quality teams
- Perform additional project-related duties as required
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction and commissioning practices, including NEC and NFPA standards
- Experience with SCADA systems integration and troubleshooting
- Expertise in electrical & instrumentation (E&I) controls, installation, and commissioning
- Protection & control systems implementation and troubleshooting
- Inverter systems startup, operation, and communications
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) operation and troubleshooting
- Ability to perform drawing reviews and quality inspections
- Experience with progress reporting and project documentation
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- PDF editing tools
- Document control systems
- Experience managing:
- Third-party vendors and suppliers
- Direct reports and project teams
- Solid understanding of project scheduling and planning
Preferred Background
- Self-motivated with a strong focus on quality, execution, and safety
- Minimum 5 years of on-site experience supporting renewable energy project construction, startup, and commissioning
- Minimum 3 years working with an EPC contractor in renewable energy projects
- Proven ability to:
- Collaborate with engineering teams on complex technical issues
- Work with construction teams on constructability, scheduling, and cost considerations
