In this role, you will oversee the on-site construction of utility-scale solar projects from Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) through Commercial Operation Date (COD). You will serve as the primary on-site representative and main point of contact for EPC contractors, ensuring construction execution aligns with contractual requirements related to safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with project agreements and standards.
- Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and EPC contractors.
- Monitor contractor performance against contractual obligations, including safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
- Provide regular updates on project status, construction progress, and key risks.
- Review and approve construction-related documentation, including reports and change requests.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support project execution, commissioning, and closeout.
Essential Duties and Functions
- Review agreements, contracts, and permits to ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate with development teams to ensure all pre-construction deliverables are completed at project turnover.
- Monitor scheduling, delivery, and inventory of owner-supplied materials through reporting systems and site coordination.
- Attend daily contractor planning meetings to review completed work and upcoming activities.
- Ensure adherence to construction standards and proper techniques as defined in EPC contracts.
- Conduct site audits and participate in safety meetings to ensure compliance with site safety plans.
- Verify that on-site teams understand and adhere to applicable agreements, contracts, and permits.
- Collaborate with internal site teams, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Review QA/QC documentation and reporting for accuracy and completeness.
- Interface with utilities, off-takers, and third-party stakeholders on-site.
- Review and approve:
- Weekly construction status reports
- Incident reports
- Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Scope Deviation Notices (SDNs) for escalation
- Track and follow up on open RFIs and project risks.
- Support project forecasting and risk tracking in coordination with project management.
- Assist with commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities.
- Review job book documentation and mechanical completion requirements prior to final sign-off.
- Support financial, commercial, and documentation closeout activities, including as-built records.
- Assist with project handoff to operations at COD.

Education & Experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 15+ years of experience in power plant construction or commissioning.
- Proven experience working with EPC contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles related to power generation and construction execution.
