Cost Accounting Consultant

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: 12-Week Contract
Pay: $90-95/hr (W2)
Our client is a leading global biopharmaceutical company focused on advancing innovative therapies and improving patient outcomes. They are seeking a Cost Accounting Consultant to prepare and review cost accounting-related entries and reconciliations in addition to preparing information for financial planning and analysis purposes. This role supports reconciliation systems management (Blackline), assists with the quarter-end process, and will help evaluate requirements for an ERP system transition with respect to cost accounting. The consultant will interact with all internal team members, outside auditors and SOX consultants, and third-party service providers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform monthly and quarter-end processes for cost accounting, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations related to inventory costing, variance analysis, and entries for valuation and reporting
- Provide day-to-day costing support to various cross-functional teams
- Prepare inventory forecasts and pricing schedules on a quarterly basis for the Financial Planning & Analysis team
- Assist in requirements and testing of ERP assessment of inventory costing
- Perform account reconciliation and journal entry management, including administration of reconciliation software (Blackline) as needed
- Assess and develop opportunities for process improvements for responsible areas, including internal controls
- Identify and communicate variances, investigate root causes, and propose corrective actions as needed

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of 8 years' experience, preferably with some experience in the biotech industry (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Cost accounting experience (inventory valuation) required
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of inventory cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and US GAAP; CPA a plus
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficient in accounting systems; Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains experience a plus
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively
- Ability to protect and safeguard confidential information and adapt to changing work approaches
