Electronics Lab Technician
Palo Alto, CA | Onsite | $30.50–$35.50/hr | 4-Month Contract | M–F, 8AM–5PM
Join a high-impact engineering team developing reliability and manufacturing test solutions for next-generation automotive electrical hardware—including Level 3+ ADAS, telematics, infotainment, battery management, and zonal ECUs for leading EV and automotive programs. You will operate custom automated test systems, own chamber setups, and troubleshoot complex hardware issues in a fast-paced lab environment.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will manage and support a variety of projects within the Hardware Test & Reliability department. Key responsibilities include:
- Operate software user interfaces to exercise test equipment during hardware bring-up
- Validate system functionality using standard lab equipment: oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, and digital multimeters
- Own calibration and mechanical setup of thermal and vibration chambers
- Troubleshoot, root cause, and document DUT, test equipment, and harness failures
- Support commissioning of new test systems
Essential Job Duties and Job Functions - Perform circuit board electronic modifications including component rework and soldering/de-soldering
- Review and report test data in collaboration with engineering leads
- Build first articles and redline schematics as needed
- Deploy test solutions internally, at external labs, and at contract manufacturing facilities
- Apply a hands-on approach—proactively identify and fill in gaps where needed
- Move and lift test boxes and instrumentation as required
Knowledge and Skills - Ability to read electrical schematics, drawings, and manufacturer product data sheets
- Experience using power tools in a lab or industrial environment
- Proficiency with soldering and circuit board rework
- Competency with electrical testing using laboratory instruments
- Proficiency with Microsoft and Google productivity applications (spreadsheets, word processing, presentations)
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Effective written and verbal documentation skills
Education and Experience - Technical degree or equivalent relevant experience in electronics testing
- 5+ years of experience building automated test equipment (ATE) or industrial automation systems
