Summary

Our client, a leader in electric vehicle technology, is seeking an Electronics Lab Technician to join the team responsible for reliability and manufacturing testing of electrical hardware, including Level 3+ ADAS, telematics, infotainment, battery management, and zonal Electronic Control Units (ECUs). This team builds custom automated test solutions spanning internal-facing software, low-level firmware, data management platforms, and custom electromechanical hardware, deployed internally and across external labs and contract manufacturing facilities. This is a hands-on role working closely with engineering leads to conduct reliability and manufacturing testing, review and report test data, build first articles, redline schematics, and troubleshoot hardware issues.

Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will support hardware bring-up, test equipment operation, and troubleshooting within the electronics test lab. Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating software user interfaces to exercise test equipment during hardware bring-up
  • Owning calibration and mechanical setup of thermal and vibration chambers
  • Troubleshooting, root-causing, and documenting DUT, test equipment, and harness failures

Essential Job Duties and Job Functions

  • Validate system functionality using standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, and digital multimeters
  • Perform circuit board electronic modifications, including component rework and soldering/de-soldering
  • Support commissioning of new test systems
  • Build first articles and redline schematics as needed
  • Review and report test data to engineering leads
  • Understand and apply control vs. ramp rate equations to determine ramp profile timing
  • Read and explain basic functions of digital components on a schematic
  • Understand EVT, DVT, and PVT processes and tester validation

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to read electrical schematics, drawings, and manufacturers' product data sheets, including current digital design schematics
  • Hands-on experience with thermal/vibration chambers and chillers, including how setups are assembled
  • Operational expertise with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and clear documentation of test results
  • Technical breadth across development cycles, with the ability to articulate past engineering contributions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Google productivity applications (spreadsheets, word processing, presentations)
  • Comfortable using power tools and moving/lifting test boxes and instrumentation
  • Hands-on, proactive approach — able to identify and fill gaps where needed

Education and Experience

  • Technical degree or equivalent relevant experience in electronics testing
  • 5+ years of experience building automated test equipment (ATE) or industrial automation systems
  • Experience with soldering and circuit board rework
  • Experience with electrical testing using laboratory tools
