Energy Storage Engineer IV (BESS Projects)
Up to $68/hour, 12-month contract
Juno Beach, FL (Remote considered for strong candidates with additional travel)

Employees in this role are responsible for planning, designing, and executing various aspects of energy storage projects. This includes defining scope, overseeing engineering activities, and collaborating across teams to deliver best-in-class solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and engineering of major components for large-scale energy storage projects
  • Review engineering drawings, identify inconsistencies, and drive design improvements
  • Identify and resolve errors in engineering studies and propose long-term solutions
  • Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts and procurement activities
  • Partner with project managers to support projects from inception through completion
  • Influence cross-functional teams on engineering decisions and execution strategy
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and ensure alignment with milestones
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to integrate key equipment and systems
  • Support system integration across controls, equipment, and site design
  • Review and interpret technical specifications for equipment procurement
  • Assist with permitting requirements and propose solutions to regulatory challenges
  • Recommend site and system design improvements
  • Travel up to 25% to support project execution

Required / Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in solar, power, or energy storage engineering and/or construction
  • Exposure to at least one of the following:
    • Power electronics
    • Battery storage systems
    • Substation or interconnection design
  • Familiarity with:
    • Battery technologies (especially lithium-ion systems)
    • Power conversion systems (PCS), inverters, DC/DC converters
  • Understanding of applicable standards such as:
    • UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A
    • NFPA 855, NEC, NFPA 70E
  • Experience working across cross-functional engineering teams
  • Ability to manage technical tasks independently and contribute to project delivery
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
