Title: Engineering Technician / Technical Operations Specialist

Pay:$22.00-$27.00/hour

Location: Normal, IL (Onsite)

Duration: 6-Month Contract

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM



Position Summary

We are seeking an Engineering Technician / Technical Operations Specialist to support a senior engineering team focused on the development of next-generation electric motor technology. This role will provide hands-on support for manufacturing and engineering activities, including assembly of motor components, data collection and analysis, troubleshooting, quality support, and parts tracking for engineering trials and validation efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.



Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior engineers with daily engineering operations, documentation, and project tracking.
  • Assemble, inspect, measure, and organize components for engineering trials, prototype builds, and validation activities.
  • Collect, analyze, and document manufacturing and test data to support engineering decisions.
  • Coordinate the shipping, receiving, packing, unpacking, and tracking of parts between facilities to ensure timely completion of engineering activities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing and quality issues during prototype and production builds.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and support implementation of containment and corrective actions.
  • Track inventory and organize parts for engineering evaluations, quality investigations, and testing.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to support operational objectives.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment while following all required safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new software and engineering tracking systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and containment procedures.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs occasionally and 35 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on an active manufacturing floor for extended periods.
  • Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and high-visibility vests.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Positive, adaptable attitude with a willingness to support repetitive tasks while continuously expanding technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, engineering validation, or manufacturing process development.
