Inventory Control Analyst

Our client is a well-established utility strengthening its inventory control function. They are seeking an Inventory Control Analyst to support inventory reconciliations, adjustments and compliance across their materials operations. This desk-based role will focus on improving inventory accuracy, investigating discrepancies and understanding their financial impact.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform inventory audits, review cycle counts and reconcile inventory records across warehouse locations.
- Support monthly cycle counts and annual physical inventory counts, including validation and reporting.
- Process inventory adjustments, debits, credits and related transactions with appropriate approvals and documentation.
- Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support SOX compliance through monitoring and documenting inventory adjustments and write-offs.
- Help manage excess and obsolete inventory, recommending opportunities for redeployment, recovery or appropriate write-off.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, inventory control documentation and performance metrics.
- Support inventory accuracy throughout a warehouse management system transition and collaborate with operations teams and warehouse partners.
Education and Experience
- Experience in inventory control, materials management or inventory reconciliation.
- Around 3–4 years of relevant experience preferred; earlier-career candidates with strong fundamentals will be considered.
- Electric utility experience in transmission or distribution preferred.
- Exposure to SOX compliance, inventory audits or excess and obsolete inventory management is a plus.
- A supply chain or technology background and Lean, Six Sigma or similar certification are beneficial.
Knowledge and Skills
- Working knowledge of basic accounting, including debits, credits and how inventory variances affect financial records or budgets.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Maximo or a comparable ERP is preferred.
- Warehouse management system experience is beneficial, particularly Manhattan; Velocity experience is also useful.
- Ability to track inventory accuracy, aging, inventory turns and other performance metrics.
- Strong attention to detail, clear communication and a proactive approach to learning systems and improving processes.
