Position Summary
Our client, a leading California utility company, is seeking a Learning & Development Manager III to join the Enterprise Learning & Development (ELD) group. Reporting to the ELD leadership, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing learning projects and portfolios to ensure the organization's workforce possesses the knowledge and skills required to work safely and in compliance with corporate and regulatory standards. This role involves providing strategic direction across multiple operating units, identifying and closing performance gaps, and driving solutions that strengthen organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of training initiatives across diverse operating units, assessing program effectiveness, identifying gaps, and reporting outcomes to stakeholders.
- Manage curriculum maintenance and development activities, ensuring programs remain current and aligned with safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.
- Lead complex initiatives that address regulatory and operational challenges using data-driven analysis and recommendations.
- Collaborate with business leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and instructional designers to develop and deliver clear, actionable training recommendations.
- Define training project requirements, develop implementation roadmaps, and manage execution while navigating obstacles and competing priorities.
- Assess impacts of regulatory and safety initiatives on grid operations and business processes; report findings to key regulatory stakeholders.
- Interpret technical business operations and align them with regulatory requirements across multiple operating units, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment.
- Identify and implement automation solutions that ensure policy and regulatory compliance while embedding process safeguards.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 7+ years of experience managing or overseeing learning, training, or organizational development initiatives across multiple operating units.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating or managing small-to-medium projects or product workstreams.
- Working knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Proven ability to gather requirements, develop project plans, manage schedules, track progress, and execute defined deliverables.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to review, validate, and critically assess training effectiveness data and stakeholder feedback.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting recommendations and status updates to cross-functional teams and management.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capability with the ability to anticipate issues, maintain documentation, and operate effectively under moderate time constraints.
