Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will support the engineering design and construction of utility-scale solar energy projects. You will manage third-party contractor teams responsible for developing engineering designs and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle—from initial concept through construction and final commissioning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development and execution of engineering designs for large-scale solar projects.
- Managing third-party engineering and contractor teams to deliver high-quality project designs.
- Coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders including environmental, procurement, transmission, and project management teams.
- Applying value engineering to optimize reliability, cost, and system performance.
- Supporting project execution through all stages, including early development, design, construction, and commissioning.
Essential Duties and Job Functions
- Manage engineering activities from project concept development through construction and final commissioning.
- Coordinate engineering deliverables from third-party contractors to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including environmental, procurement, transmission services, and project management teams.
- Apply value engineering principles to balance system reliability, cost efficiency, and performance.
- Support engineering review and coordination across multiple disciplines including electrical, structural, civil, and materials engineering.
- Facilitate communication and coordination across project teams to ensure engineering milestones are achieved.
- Assist in managing project schedules and budgets for major capital projects.
- Support project execution through regular stakeholder engagement and technical oversight.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of engineering principles across multiple disciplines including electrical, structural, civil, and materials engineering.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and project stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills when working with engineering teams and contractors.
- Ability to balance technical requirements with project cost and schedule considerations.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in complex engineering projects.
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
Education
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (required).
- Acceptable disciplines include Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience(exceptions may be considered for candidates with strong applicable experience).
- Experience in engineering and project management for utility-scale solar projects is preferred.
Relevant experience may include:
- Distributed generation or commercial solar projects.
- Other power industry technologies such as wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), combined cycle, nuclear, hydrogen, substations, or transmission infrastructure.
- Strong engineering candidates from other industries such as aerospace or civil infrastructure (e.g., stormwater systems).
