JOB TITLE: Senior Associate Scientist RD
LOCATION: Cambridge, MA
SCHEDULE: Standard EST Hours
DURATION: 13-Month Contract
PAY: $64-69/hr
Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will support the development and optimization of therapeutic proteins within a research-focused laboratory environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Producing antibodies and recombinant proteins, including:
o Transient expression workflows
o Stable cell pool generation
o CHO cell-based protein expression systems - Preparing plasmid DNA to support protein production workflows
- Conducting plate-based assays (e.g., ELISA, MSD) to evaluate protein expression and binding
- Performing flow cytometry sample preparation and analysis for binding and expression studies
- Documenting experiments, protocols, and results in accordance with internal and regulatory standards
- Collaborating with cross-functional research teams to support scientific objectives
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Execute antibody and recombinant protein production using mammalian cell culture systems (CHO cells)
- Maintain and culture mammalian cells using aseptic techniques in shake flask systems
- Perform transient transfections and support development of stable cell pools
- Conduct protein characterization assays, including ELISA and MSD platforms
- Prepare samples and assist with flow cytometry-based assays and data interpretation
- Generate and maintain accurate, detailed laboratory documentation and records
- Analyze experimental data and communicate findings to team members
- Support troubleshooting and optimization of protein production and assay workflows
- Follow laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with internal standards
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture (CHO cells preferred)
- Knowledge of antibody and recombinant protein expression techniques
- Experience with plate-based assays such as ELISA and MSD
- Familiarity with flow cytometry workflows (sample prep and/or analysis)
- Understanding of molecular biology techniques (e.g., plasmid prep)
- Strong documentation practices and attention to detail
- Ability to analyze data and support data-driven decision-making
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, OR
- Master of Science (MS) with 0–2 years of relevant experience
- Experience in protein therapeutics, antibody development, or related life sciences field preferred
- Experience with stable cell line generation, immunoassays, and protein purification is a plus
