JOB TITLE: Scientist

LOCATION: Onsite – Slough

SCHEDULE: Standard working hours

DURATION: 8-month contract

PAY: £21.50/hour

Job Responsibilities:

In this role, you will lead and support scientific research activities focused on advancing understanding of CHO media development. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading scientific research projects related to CHO media development and process optimisation.

• Supporting laboratory activities to ensure high-quality experimental execution, including:

o Cell culture operations using CHO cell lines.

o Operation of Ambr systems (Ambr15 and Ambr250).

o Preparation and execution of analytical testing.

o Media, feed, buffer, and reagent preparation.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery and scientific progress.

• Maintaining laboratory readiness through equipment preparation, calibration, monitoring, and safety compliance.

• Coordinating external servicing of laboratory equipment and related services.

• Monitoring and maintaining stock levels of laboratory consumables.

• Completing and peer-reviewing laboratory documentation in line with internal standards.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

• Lead and execute laboratory-based research projects to improve CHO media development processes.

• Adhere to good laboratory practice (GLP) and cGMP requirements where applicable.

• Perform routine and advanced cell culture experiments using CHO systems.

• Operate and maintain Ambr15 and Ambr250 bioreactor platforms.

• Support analytical testing and interpretation of experimental data.

• Prepare laboratory materials including media, feeds, reagents, and buffers.

• Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained, and operating safely.

• Review and complete technical documentation accurately and on time.

• Collaborate with scientific and operational teams to meet project objectives.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain scientific concepts clearly.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

• Hands-on experience with laboratory techniques and scientific data analysis.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic research environment.

• Understanding of laboratory compliance standards including GLP/cGMP.

Essential Experience:

• Hands-on experience with Ambr15.

• Hands-on experience with Ambr250.

• Strong cell culture experience using CHO cell lines.

Preferred / Nice to Have:

• Experience with CLC.

• Analytical laboratory experience.

Education & Experience:

• Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline.

• Relevant laboratory or bioprocess development experience preferred.
