Senior Construction Manager

Las Vegas, NV

Duration: 12-month contract

Pay:$60-64/hr




The Construction Manager (CM) is responsible for the overall success of the project at the field level. This role serves as the central point of coordination between field operations and the Project Manager, acting as the “quarterback” for execution in the field. The position is typically 70% office-based and 30% field-based.



Preconstruction Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of all contract documents.
  • Review and understand the contractor’s Safety Plan, which governs how safety is managed on the project.
    • Identify gaps or inaccuracies and coordinate with the safety team to resolve issues.
  • Lead the project kickoff meeting to clearly communicate expectations.
  • Attend site-specific orientations hosted by the contractor.
  • Review and understand all required documentation, including:
    • Permits, road use agreements, crossing agreements, SWPPP requirements, haul routes
    • Drawings, materials, schedules, QA/QC requirements
    • Submittals to engineering for review
  • Set expectations, lead, and train the internal project team, including:
    • Site safety orientation
    • Review of the site-specific safety plan
    • Completion of safety assessments and CILs
    • Independent data collection and reporting (do not rely solely on contractor data)
    • Documentation for weekly reports
    • QA/QC tracking
    • Site photography

Construction Phase Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a professional working relationship with the contractor.
  • Stay actively engaged in all aspects of the project, including:
    • Safety oversight to ensure all personnel remain safe
    • Quality control by understanding specifications and drawings (rework increases safety risk)
    • Schedule awareness (including master schedule and contractor schedules)
    • Progress tracking and approval of construction status updates
    • Monitoring environmental constraints before and during work activities
    • Coordinating outages and crossings rather than delegating solely to the contractor
  • Ensure both the owner’s team and the contractor work collaboratively to achieve:
    • Zero injuries
    • Schedule adherence
    • Delivery of a high-quality project

Reporting Responsibilities

  • Collect and validate project data independently; contractor-provided information should not be solely relied upon.
  • Ensure all reports are 100% accurate, as this information is shared through senior leadership.
  • Manage the internal team to gather complete and accurate reporting inputs.
  • Maintain documentation that may be required for change order reviews or dispute resolution.
    • Incomplete or inaccurate documentation may result in unrecoverable costs.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Project Manager to provide context and escalate issues when support is needed.
  • Submit all required reports and trackers by Friday, end of day (5:00 PM project time).

Management of Additional Resources

Environmental Team

  • Utilize environmental resources for:
    • Third-party contractor audits
    • Regulatory guidance and compliance support
    • Environmental oversight and accountability
  • Environmental staff do not direct field crews; all contractor communication must flow through the CM.

ISC / Expeditor

  • Support material management and delivery schedules.
  • Assist with locating missing materials and coordinating with vendors to improve shipping timelines.

Safety Team

  • Leverage safety expertise to improve site safety through observations, conversations, and CILs.
  • Engage the safety team when contractors fail to comply with safety requirements.

Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

  • Utilize discipline-specific experts (civil, structural, electrical, construction, etc.) to resolve technical issues and support decision-making.

Land Agents

  • Coordinate with land agents on planning, landowner relations, and interpretation of land agreements.
  • Land agents do not manage field crews; all contractor communication must be directed through the CM.
