Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Senior Scheduler to join their team in Pomona, CA on a contract basis. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules in support of complex utility transmission and substation programs. The successful candidate will bring advanced hands-on expertise in Primavera P6 and a strong ability to communicate data-driven schedule insights to cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) in Primavera P6
- Build schedules from the ground up using scope, engineering, and construction inputs
- Perform critical path analysis, schedule risk assessments, and forecasting
- Conduct Time Impact Analysis (TIA) and assess the impact of schedule changes
- Manage schedule baselines, updates, and variance analysis
- Support Earned Value Management (EVM) and contribute to progress reporting
- Prepare and present monthly schedule reports covering delays, risks, and recovery plans
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering, and Construction teams to maintain schedule alignment
- Identify schedule risks and propose actionable mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with project controls standards and governance requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 7–8 years of hands-on Primavera P6 scheduling experience on complex, multi-disciplinary programs
- Demonstrated track record as a schedule builder — not solely a reviewer
Knowledge & Skills
Required:
- Advanced to expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 (non-negotiable)
- Proven ability to develop and manage complex, multi-disciplinary project schedules
- Strong working knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM), schedule logic and sequencing, Time Impact Analysis (TIA), and baseline and variance analysis
- Ability to clearly communicate schedule risks, delays, and mitigation actions to diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams spanning engineering, construction, and PMO functions
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Desired:
- Background in utility, substation, or transmission project environments
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and cost integration principles
- Familiarity with data and reporting tools including Power BI, Excel analytics, and AI-assisted reporting
