Senior Sustaining Quality Engineer

Location: Draper, UT

Schedule: Standard

Duration: 12 Month Contract

Pay Range:$51.50–56.50/hr



Summary

Our client, a manufacturer in a regulated industry, is seeking a Senior Sustaining Quality Engineer to lead complex nonconformance (NCR) investigations, CAPA activities, and manufacturing quality improvements. This role ensures product quality, compliance, and operational excellence by partnering with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues, drive root cause investigations, and implement sustainable corrective actions.



Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will manage and support quality engineering activities within the Quality department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading complex NCR investigations and CAPA activities from initiation through closure
  • Facilitating root cause analysis and developing effective corrective and preventive actions
  • Providing quality engineering support to manufacturing operations and product sustaining activities
  • Supporting MRB activities, product disposition decisions, and quality event management
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction, process improvement, and compliance
  • Analyzing quality data and identifying trends to prevent recurrence of nonconformances
  • Serving as a technical mentor and subject matter expert for investigations and problem-solving activities



Essential Job Duties and Job Functions

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of nonconformance and CAPA records, ensuring timely, well-documented closure
  • Lead cross-functional root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams to implement sustainable corrective actions
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and support product disposition decisions
  • Track and trend quality data to proactively identify and address systemic issues
  • Mentor junior engineers and act as a subject matter expert on investigation and problem-solving practices



Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and problem-solving methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex investigations independently
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
  • Data analysis skills to identify trends and drive continuous improvement



Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading NCRs, CAPAs, and complex investigations
