Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead and support geospatial initiatives across active and planned projects while advancing broader business objectives. You will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in GIS, translating business requirements into technical deliverables using enterprise geospatial platforms and ESRI products.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading or supporting GIS efforts for assigned projects.
- Translating business needs into scalable technical solutions using ESRI-based systems.
- Developing and maintaining web applications and complex mapping products.
- Supporting transmission routing studies and spatial analysis initiatives.
- Managing project data, schemas, and collaboration environments.
- Coordinating with internal teams, developers, and external consultants to ensure successful project execution.
- Supporting proposal efforts, including RFP/bid responses and awarded project execution.
Essential Duties and Job Functions
- Serve as the primary GIS point of contact for assigned projects, attending meetings as the GIS SME and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define deliverables.
- Communicate project status, risks, and deliverables effectively to senior stakeholders.
- Create, maintain, and manage project-related web applications, datasets, and folder structures.
- Lead routing efforts by coordinating with developers and third-party consultants conducting routing studies.
- Configure and deploy Field Maps solutions as required to support field operations.
- Provide approved data schemas to consultants and establish collaboration workspaces within enterprise GIS platforms (e.g., AGOL).
- Ensure proper data governance, version control, and documentation across project lifecycles.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong experience with ESRI products, including web applications and enterprise GIS platforms.
- Proficiency in developing mapping applications and managing spatial datasets.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical GIS solutions.
- Experience coordinating with consultants, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to spatial data and routing analysis.
- Proficiency with computer applications and GIS-related software tools.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–6 years of relevant professional experience in GIS or geospatial analysis.
- Experience supporting infrastructure, transmission routing, or utility-related projects preferred.
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders and customers is highly desirable.
