Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will manage the design and execution of high-voltage transmission line projects supporting Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and stand-alone transmission infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading transmission line engineering projects from conceptual development through construction and commissioning.
- Managing external engineering consultants responsible for transmission line design and deliverables.
- Supporting competitive transmission proposals and greenfield development projects.
- Coordinating project routing, permitting, geotechnical investigations, survey activities, and engineering data collection.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.
- Supporting procurement activities, bid evaluations, and contractor selection processes.
- Providing technical leadership and project updates to management and cross-functional teams.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Manage transmission line design activities throughout all project phases, including conceptual development, detailed engineering, construction support, and project closeout.
- Develop scopes of work for engineering consultants, surveyors, geotechnical firms, and construction contractors.
- Coordinate engineering deliverables including Issued for Bid (IFB), Issued for Procurement (IFP), Issued for Construction (IFC), and As-Built packages.
- Support route development activities and secure engineering data required for project execution, including lidar and geotechnical data.
- Review transmission line engineering drawings and technical deliverables such as one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, plan and profile drawings, and general arrangements.
- Support cost estimating activities by providing engineering scope assumptions and technical input.
- Collaborate with project managers, supply chain teams, permitting groups, and construction teams to ensure project success.
- Monitor project risks, schedule impacts, and engineering quality while driving resolution of technical issues.
- Participate in presentations, meetings, and project briefings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Travel as required throughout North America to support project activities.

- High attention to detail with a focus on design quality and value engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and engineering software tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil/Structural Engineering required.
- Minimum of 7 years of direct experience in the development, engineering, design, and construction of high-voltage transmission line projects.
- Experience with renewable energy transmission interconnection projects preferred.
- Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience strongly preferred.
- PMP and/or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.
- Experience with industry-standard software such as PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, Primavera, and Microsoft Office preferred.
- Senior-level candidates may require fewer years of experience than Principal-level candidates depending on qualifications and technical expertise.
