Job Responsibilities:

In this role, you will provide technical development and support for Oracle eBusiness Systems (EBS) R12.2.10+ with a focus on Finance and Oracle Projects modules. You will work under minimal supervision while collaborating with business users and a large Oracle support team to deliver high-quality, compliant, and scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and supporting customizations and extensions within Oracle Finance and/or Oracle Projects modules.
  • Designing and building complex Oracle Apex transaction screens (including nested workflow screens).
  • Configuring and programming approval workflows using Approvals Management Engine (AME).
  • Developing and modifying workflows using Oracle Workflow Builder.
  • Gathering business and technical requirements and producing detailed functional and technical specification documents.
  • Conducting user demonstrations, incorporating stakeholder feedback, and delivering training sessions.
  • Supporting change management processes and ensuring compliance with SOX control requirements (where applicable).
  • Tracking deliverables and providing regular status reporting to management.
  • Collaborating closely with business users, IT teams, and other developers in a multi-developer environment.

    Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Analyze and document system requirements and solution designs, including data flow between subledgers and General Ledger.
  • Develop new Apex screens or enhance existing ones to extend transactional functionality.
  • Configure AME approval rules using attributes, conditions, action types, approval groups, and both serial and parallel approval processes.
  • Modify application menus, adjust responsibility definitions, and enhance concurrent program definitions using Oracle Application Object Library (AOL).
  • Build and maintain custom approval processes (e.g., Accounts Payable Invoice approvals, General Ledger Journal approvals, iExpense approvals).
  • Address workflow complexities including delegations, ad hoc role creation, and responsibility configurations.
  • Create and maintain training documentation and videos; support users during testing phases.
  • Apply industry-standard project management principles and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Continuously expand functional and technical knowledge to deliver business-driven solutions.

    Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong programming expertise in Oracle Apex for transactional processing in an on-prem EBS R12.2+ environment.
  • Advanced configuration and development experience with AME (Approvals Management Engine).
  • Extensive experience with Oracle Workflow Builder and complex workflow approvals.
  • In-depth understanding of Oracle Finance modules and/or Oracle Projects.
  • Strong knowledge of subledger to General Ledger data flow and end-to-end financial system processes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience operating within structured change management and compliance-driven environments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-developer team.

    Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience programming extensions and customizations in Oracle Finance and/or Oracle Projects (R12.2+ required).
  • 5+ years of hands-on Oracle Apex UI development experience (transactional screens required; dashboard-only experience not sufficient).
  • Proven experience configuring and programming AME approvals.
  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle Workflow Builder.
  • Recent (within the past year) experience working in an on-prem Oracle EBS R12.2+ environment required.
  • Experience working in a multi-developer team environment preferred.

Candidate Profile – Likely to Succeed:

  • Strong technical developer with deep Apex, AME, and Workflow expertise.
  • Experienced in complex financial approval processes within Oracle EBS.
  • Hands-on developer rather than DBA/system administrator–focused.
  • Comfortable working directly with business stakeholders and supporting end-to-end transactional solutions.

    Not a Fit If:

  • Limited Apex transactional development experience.
  • Primarily dashboard/reporting-focused Apex background.
  • Limited exposure to AME or Workflow programming.
  • Primarily DBA, system administration, or liaison-focused background without deep development expertise.
  • No recent R12.2+ on-prem EBS experience.
