Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will provide technical development and support for Oracle eBusiness Systems (EBS) R12.2.10+ with a focus on Finance and Oracle Projects modules. You will work under minimal supervision while collaborating with business users and a large Oracle support team to deliver high-quality, compliant, and scalable solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and supporting customizations and extensions within Oracle Finance and/or Oracle Projects modules.
- Designing and building complex Oracle Apex transaction screens (including nested workflow screens).
- Configuring and programming approval workflows using Approvals Management Engine (AME).
- Developing and modifying workflows using Oracle Workflow Builder.
- Gathering business and technical requirements and producing detailed functional and technical specification documents.
- Conducting user demonstrations, incorporating stakeholder feedback, and delivering training sessions.
- Supporting change management processes and ensuring compliance with SOX control requirements (where applicable).
- Tracking deliverables and providing regular status reporting to management.
- Collaborating closely with business users, IT teams, and other developers in a multi-developer environment.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Analyze and document system requirements and solution designs, including data flow between subledgers and General Ledger.
- Develop new Apex screens or enhance existing ones to extend transactional functionality.
- Configure AME approval rules using attributes, conditions, action types, approval groups, and both serial and parallel approval processes.
- Modify application menus, adjust responsibility definitions, and enhance concurrent program definitions using Oracle Application Object Library (AOL).
- Build and maintain custom approval processes (e.g., Accounts Payable Invoice approvals, General Ledger Journal approvals, iExpense approvals).
- Address workflow complexities including delegations, ad hoc role creation, and responsibility configurations.
- Create and maintain training documentation and videos; support users during testing phases.
- Apply industry-standard project management principles and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Continuously expand functional and technical knowledge to deliver business-driven solutions.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong programming expertise in Oracle Apex for transactional processing in an on-prem EBS R12.2+ environment.
- Advanced configuration and development experience with AME (Approvals Management Engine).
- Extensive experience with Oracle Workflow Builder and complex workflow approvals.
- In-depth understanding of Oracle Finance modules and/or Oracle Projects.
- Strong knowledge of subledger to General Ledger data flow and end-to-end financial system processes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience operating within structured change management and compliance-driven environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-developer team.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience programming extensions and customizations in Oracle Finance and/or Oracle Projects (R12.2+ required).
- 5+ years of hands-on Oracle Apex UI development experience (transactional screens required; dashboard-only experience not sufficient).
- Proven experience configuring and programming AME approvals.
- Demonstrated experience with Oracle Workflow Builder.
- Recent (within the past year) experience working in an on-prem Oracle EBS R12.2+ environment required.
- Experience working in a multi-developer team environment preferred.
Candidate Profile – Likely to Succeed:
- Strong technical developer with deep Apex, AME, and Workflow expertise.
- Experienced in complex financial approval processes within Oracle EBS.
- Hands-on developer rather than DBA/system administrator–focused.
- Comfortable working directly with business stakeholders and supporting end-to-end transactional solutions.
Not a Fit If:
- Limited Apex transactional development experience.
- Primarily dashboard/reporting-focused Apex background.
- Limited exposure to AME or Workflow programming.
- Primarily DBA, system administration, or liaison-focused background without deep development expertise.
- No recent R12.2+ on-prem EBS experience.
