MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will support the development and improvement of mechanical fixtures, electromechanical systems, and test platforms. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading multiple mechanical design and development projects, including:
- Developing new fixtures, sub-systems, and test platforms.
- Improving and optimizing existing test equipment and platforms.
- Gathering requirements and input from multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Analyzing technical problems and developing effective engineering solutions.
- Creating and evaluating multiple design concepts and selecting the most appropriate solutions.
- Developing detailed mechanical designs and GD&T drawings.
- Sourcing components and coordinating with external vendors.
- Building and evaluating prototypes.
- Executing testing and analyzing results.
- Translating test results into clear engineering recommendations and next steps.
- Independently driving projects through the full development cycle, from initial requirements gathering through design, prototyping, testing, and implementation.
- Applying engineering judgment and problem-solving techniques to address unusual or complex technical challenges.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, communicate technical findings, and drive project execution.
- Adapting engineering approaches and existing techniques to solve problems where information or requirements may be limited.
- Communicating technical recommendations effectively to different audiences, including internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Design and develop mechanical fixtures, components, and electromechanical sub-systems.
- Develop detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T documentation.
- Perform root cause analyses to identify failures, determine contributing factors, and develop corrective design solutions.
- Evaluate design concepts using engineering analysis, testing, and practical considerations.
- Build prototypes and test fixtures to validate mechanical and electromechanical designs.
- Plan and execute engineering tests and document results, findings, and recommendations.
- Source mechanical and electromechanical components and communicate technical requirements with vendors.
- Work independently while providing project updates and seeking review at critical development stages.
- Assess unusual circumstances and apply analytical and problem-solving techniques to determine the best course of action.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and adapt priorities based on business needs.
- Use engineering judgment, evaluation, and interpretation to select appropriate design approaches and solutions.
- Provide clear technical communication and recommendations to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong mechanical and electromechanical design experience.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, theories, and concepts.
- Proficiency in CAD and mechanical design tools.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing practices.
- Experience conducting root cause analyses and structured problem-solving.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to develop practical engineering solutions from limited or incomplete information.
- Strong hands-on prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience communicating technical requirements and specifications with vendors.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound engineering judgment.

- Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences and effectively influence stakeholders.
- Proficiency with computer applications and software related to mechanical engineering and design.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years of related experience with a Master's degree; or a PhD with no required prior experience.
- Must-have experience in:
- Electromechanical design.
- Mechanical design.
- Root cause analysis.
- GD&T.
- Vendor communication and component sourcing.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, fixture development, test equipment, or test platforms preferred.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment preferred.
- Experience taking designs from concept through detailed design, prototyping, testing, and implementation preferred.
