Position Summary
Our client, a leading regulated utility in California, is seeking a Physical Security Project Manager to support their Corporate Security division on an 18-month contract basis. In this role, you will independently manage a portfolio of physical security technology capital projects ranging from $10K to $1M in value, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with established security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage a portfolio of physical security technology capital projects valued from $10K up to $1M.
- Identify and mitigate project risks; proactively alert the PMO manager and key Corporate Security stakeholders to problem areas and work with project teams to develop effective mitigations.
- Review physical security engineering plans and drawings to ensure proposed solutions align with established security standards, processes, procedures, and overall business objectives.
- Maintain daily communication — in person, by phone, and via email — with a wide range of personnel to support scope definition, scheduling, budget management, and coordination of vendor field activities.
- Present project status updates at daily, weekly, and monthly PMO meetings and calls.
- Maintain and update monthly project status reports covering scope, schedule, and financial progress to ensure ongoing project health.
- Lead vendor activities to ensure construction work is executed in accordance with established schedules and capital spend commitments.
- Support monthly financial variance reporting across all assigned projects.
- Document business cases, budgets, schedules, and project requirements in the form of project charters.
- Conduct field site walks in support of new project engagements and scope assessments.
- Facilitate project status meetings with core project teams as required.
- Maintain thorough project accounting records and documentation.
- Develop and maintain current financial forecasts, outlooks, and MS Project schedules for all assigned projects.
- Review vendor daily reports to verify that work progress and quality meet required standards.
- Champion project safety and safe work practices in alignment with applicable safety standards.
Education & Experience
- Typically 5–8 years of experience in project, program, or contract management in a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of contract management experience.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- PMP Certification preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — this role requires daily collaboration across a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to develop medium to complex project schedules using MS Project.
- Experience maintaining project budgets and developing financial forecasts.
- Ability to interpret and/or design electrical single-line and logic diagrams.
- Ability to read and interpret construction and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drawings.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements preferred.
