Payroll Specialist – Projects (Contract)

Overview:
We’re partnering with a leading retail organisation undergoing a significant payroll systems transformation. This role offers the chance to work on a high-impact UKG implementation project alongside a collaborative and experienced payroll and project team.
You’ll bring your end-to-end payroll expertise and award interpretation knowledge to support testing, implementation, and compliance activities. The business is also launching a second global payroll project, providing the opportunity to gain international project exposure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the UKG (Kronos) project – focused on design and payroll testing phases.
- Interpret Enterprise Agreements (EAs) and relevant Awards (specifically the VRSR Award) to ensure accuracy during testing.
- Support end of financial year (EOFY) payroll processing.
- Action audit items, specifically relating to superannuation.
- Explore legislative obligations under Payday Super changes.
- Join the project team for an upcoming implementation of a new global outsourced payroll solution
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong end-to-end payroll experience, ideally at Team Lead or Manager level.
- Previous experience working on payroll system implementations and/or transformation projects.
- Proficient in interpreting EAs and Awards, especially within complex or regulated industries.
- Knowledge of SAP ECC6, UKG (Kronos), and Excel (advanced).
- Up-to-date understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including Payday Super obligations.
- Highly organised, self-driven, and comfortable operating in a project-based environment.
- Industry background is flexible – experience in retail or large-scale organisations a bonus.
