Summary
We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Project Engineer to provide design and project management services for electrical distribution facilities. This role serves as the single point of contact for assigned projects within the service territory and requires sound engineering judgment, independent decision-making, and strong customer engagement skills. The ideal candidate brings expertise in both new construction and maintenance of distribution systems and excels in managing the technical and interpersonal aspects of utility projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed work order assessments and execute complex distribution system designs to meet customer needs and internal standards.
- Ensure that designs align with FPL (Florida Power & Light) requirements and comply with all applicable regulations.
- Develop accurate resource estimates including labor, materials, and work types needed for project execution.
- Evaluate distribution system capacity to serve new loads and proactively mitigate future system impacts.
- Manage the full lifecycle of projects, from scope definition to final customer satisfaction.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, maintaining consistent and clear communication with stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internal departments to align project requirements, cost estimates, and customer expectations.
- Track project performance and provide regular reporting on progress and outcomes.
- Lead all aspects of engineering design and permitting processes.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, engineering policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in standards development, training, and process improvement initiatives.
- Engage in customer interactions and negotiations to ensure project alignment with expectations.
- Attend meetings, contribute to improvement measures, and foster collaborative relationships across teams.
- Support organizational communication and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Meet attendance and storm duty requirements.
- Be available for extended hours as needed to support critical operations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in:
- Electrical distribution/utility design or operations
- Customer interaction and negotiations
- Electric Power Technology Certification.
- Advanced proficiency in:

Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
