The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Application Architect to define and lead the architecture of customer-facing digital products, including mobile and online banking platforms. You’ll play a key role in shaping scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions aligned to Barclays’ long-term technology strategy.
Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver end-to-end architecture for modern digital applications

Define technology stacks, platforms, and integration patterns

Contribute to and influence the technology roadmap within your domain

Ensure adherence to architecture, security, and governance standards

Produce architecture artefacts and participate in governance forums

Partner with product and business teams to translate requirements into solutions

Provide technical leadership, mentoring teams and promoting best practices
Required Skills & Experience
-
Proven experience architecting distributed systems(microservices, REST APIs, cloud-native solutions)

Strong hands-on expertise with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including migration strategies

Solid software engineering background(e.g. Java, Python) with Agile delivery experience

Financial services domain experience, ideally within payments, cards, or digital channels

Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance business and technical trade-offs
