Job Summary
The Battery Pack and Module Teardown Technician is responsible for the safe disassembly, analysis, and documentation of battery modules and packs. This role involves working with high-voltage systems, performing fabrication and assembly tasks, and supporting engineering teams in failure analysis and research activities. The technician will follow strict safety protocols and contribute to process improvements in teardown and testing operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform teardowns of battery modules and packs, including disassembly and failure analysis of cells and components.
- Operate and maintain battery testing equipment (environmental chambers, potentiostats, thermal analysis tools, etc.).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, to improve battery performance and safety.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to laboratory safety procedures and handling hazardous materials properly.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety checks before handling battery packs and modules.
- Provide feedback on teardown processes to improve efficiency and safety.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in teardown and testing operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in battery teardown, assembly, or related technical roles.
- Hands-on experience with high-voltage systems (up to 1,000V) and electrical safety.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in fabrication and assembly.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Understanding of thermal, electrical, and mechanical failure modes in batteries.
- Experience with documentation and data collection tools (Excel, databases, LIMS).
