Position Summary

Our client is a leading organization in the energy and utilities sector, committed to delivering reliable power generation and infrastructure services across the United States. This role is responsible for coordinating and managing construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site. The Construction Manager assesses productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on the project. This role manages walk downs of planned work, validates acceptance of completed work to design requirements, approves contractor payment requests, verifies constructability, ensures proper resource allocations, assesses field status, and resolves issues as needed. The position is responsible for scope control, budget oversight, performance reporting, schedules, and work in progress to ensure Construction Supervisors are effectively implementing their assignments and obtaining the desired results. Acts as a critical bridge between field operations and customer leadership, ensuring construction crews and project stakeholders remain aligned.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Oversee large-scale commissioning efforts, including project scope and risk management
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring technical and operational excellence
  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies to optimize plant performance
  • Lead complex negotiations with EPC contractors and regulatory agencies
  • Conduct high-level project assessments to drive process improvements
  • Provide leadership and coaching to Construction Supervisors and supplemental workforce, communicating departmental, station, and division goals
  • Address logistical challenges, resolve conflicts, and ensure construction activities stay on track
  • Survey and observe contractor Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices; provide coaching, direction and corrective action as needed
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned



Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma / GED required
  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • 11–15 years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers



Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning
  • Demonstrated ability to manage scope control, budget oversight, and performance reporting
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing contractor relationships
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with ability to communicate goals across all levels
  • Knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices and regulatory compliance
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience engaging EPC contractors and regulatory agencies
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities in complex field environments
