Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Engineer to support the development, programming, and testing of protective relaying systems for transmission and distribution networks. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, and hands-on experience with relay settings and system studies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings (one-line, AC/DC schematics, and logic diagrams).

  • Perform system evaluations and short-circuit/protection coordination studies using software such as CAPE, ASPEN, or CYME.

  • Develop, program, and issue relay settings for GE, SEL, and other relays; provide field support for commissioning and testing.

  • Review and approve as-left relay setting files and coordinate with field technicians.

  • Ensure compliance with NERC/WECC protection and reliability standards.

  • Collaborate with substation, distribution, and project engineers to design reliable protection systems.

  • Participate in QA reviews of protection deliverables and support automation or relay upgrade projects.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • 3–4+ years of relevant protection or substation engineering experience (more years welcome).

  • Ability to interpret and design protection logic, one-line, and schematic diagrams.

  • Experience developing relay settings and using GE EnerVista, SEL AcSELerator, or similar tools.

  • Knowledge of transmission and distribution systems, fault analysis, and protection coordination principles.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Schweitzer (SEL) and GE relay platforms.

  • Familiarity with automation, bulk power protection schemes, and NERC PRC compliance.

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (not required).
