Engineering Project Manager

About the Opportunity

Hydrogen Group is hiring on behalf of a confidential client in the electrical construction and infrastructure sector. The organization delivers complex electrical solutions for industrial and commercial projects, with a strong emphasis on safety, technical excellence, innovation, and collaborative project delivery.

We are seeking an Engineering Project Manager to oversee digital project delivery, constructability, and electrical design coordination across complex construction projects. This position serves as a key connection point between engineering, BIM/VDC, prefabrication, and field operations, ensuring designs and models are practical, coordinated, fabrication-ready, and aligned with field installation requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead for digital delivery across plan/specification, design-assist, and design-build electrical projects.
  • Direct the development and coordination of electrical designs and models, including power distribution, one-line diagrams, lighting, controls, and equipment layouts, while maintaining compliance with NEC and applicable local requirements.
  • Leverage AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks to develop coordinated drawings and installation-ready models.
  • Lead electrical BIM coordination efforts and work with other trades to minimize clashes and integration issues.
  • Conduct constructability assessments and identify potential access limitations, installation challenges, sequencing concerns, and productivity risks before work reaches the field.
  • Work alongside field operations and prefabrication teams to incorporate modularization, fabrication, and labor-efficiency strategies into design and modeling processes.
  • Contribute to value engineering efforts by identifying practical, cost-conscious technical alternatives while maintaining safety, quality, and performance standards.
  • Coordinate with project management, estimating, and operations teams to ensure BIM deliverables support project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and construction sequencing.
  • Lead and develop BIM Engineers, Designers, and VDC personnel through resource planning, technical coaching, training, and performance development.
  • Establish consistent modeling standards, coordination procedures, and quality-control practices across assigned projects.
  • Participate in design reviews, coordination sessions, and client meetings, providing technical guidance throughout preconstruction and project execution.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience within electrical construction.
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting electrical construction projects within BIM, VDC, engineering, or design-build environments.
  • Demonstrated background in constructability-focused modeling and coordination with field construction teams.
  • Experience providing technical leadership and managing or mentoring direct reports.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, but not required.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering & Prefabrication.
