Title: Project Manager – Gas Project Development
Pay:$40.00 - $45.00/hr
Location/Schedule:
Remote, East Coast Hrs
Duration:
12-Month Contract
Seeking a Project Manager to support gas project development activities from early-stage technical assessments through construction readiness and project execution. The immediate focus will be developing and implementing project reporting.
This hands-on role works across Engineering & Construction (E&C) and Integrated Supply Chain. The ideal candidate brings disciplined project management experience, ownership of cost and schedule risk, and the ability to drive cross-functional alignment in a fast-moving, origination-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Development Support
- Support E&C participation in technology reviews, preliminary engineering, and contracting for active gas development projects.
- Coordinate input from E&C subject matter experts on site configuration reviews, constructability assessments, and balance-of-plant evaluations, including gas and electrical interconnection and switchyard scopes.
- Track development and regulatory milestones, identifying and flagging construction-phase dependencies early.
Project Controls & Risk Management
- Maintain project schedules, cost benchmarks, and cash flow models to support project sanction decisions.
- Own and maintain the E&C risk register, tracking scope, schedule, cost, and constructability risks across active workstreams.
- Identify and escalate development-driven scope changes that introduce E&C cost or schedule risks.
- Support risk-adjusted cost positioning and contingency analysis for leadership reporting.
- Manage monthly and quarterly progress reporting to the project owner, including schedule status, cost performance, risk exposure, and milestone tracking.
- Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and ready to support decisions.
- Develop and maintain one-page project dashboards and presentation materials covering scope, budget, equipment status, interconnection, permitting, and required decisions.
- Prepare executive-level project status packages that clearly communicate emerging risks, mitigation actions, and residual exposure.
Procurement & Supply Chain Coordination
- Coordinate with Integrated Supply Chain on request for quotation (RFQ) inputs, technical scope reviews, and bid evaluations for major equipment and Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) or Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management (EPCM) scopes.
- Compare E&C cost estimates with contractor proposals, flagging material variances as potential scope alignment risks.
- Track long-lead equipment, including combustion turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), transformers, and switchgear.
- Identify and flag supply chain constraints in a capacity-constrained original equipment manufacturer (OEM) market.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in energy project development or large capital construction.
- Demonstrated experience in project controls and schedule development for gas generation or major capital projects.
- Proven ability to manage owner-level reporting obligations, including monthly and quarterly progress reports covering schedule, cost, and risk.
- Familiarity with EPC/EPCM project delivery models and contractor bid evaluation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams with competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with combined-cycle or simple-cycle gas development projects.
- Familiarity with interconnection processes and associated E&C scope implications.
- Experience coordinating long-lead equipment procurement in constrained OEM markets.
- Exposure to balance-of-plant scopes, including switchyard, transmission, and civil/site infrastructure.
