Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Top Mandatory Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on mechanical assembly using hand and power tools
  • Low-voltage wiring and cable routing
  • Aluminum extrusion fabrication (e.g., 80/20 or similar systems)
  • Installation within industrial enclosures and manufacturing environments
  • 1–5 years of experience in a similar manufacturing, fabrication, or installation role

Role Overview

The Manufacturing AI Installation Technician is responsible for building, installing, and maintaining industrial AI hardware systems across a large-scale manufacturing facility.

This role blends hands-on fabrication with on-line installation work across multiple production areas, ensuring cameras, brackets, enclosures, and support structures are safely installed and suitable for 24/7 industrial operation.

Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Assembly

  • Fabricate and assemble brackets, frames, and supports using aluminum extrusion, steel, and plastics
  • Cut, drill, tap, deburr, and finish components using band saws, drill presses, hand tools, and grinders
  • Read basic mechanical drawings or sketches and build to specification with minimal rework

Station Installation (Body / Paint / General Assembly)

  • Install AI devices, camera mounts, and industrial enclosures to defined standards (height, angle, clearances, datum references)
  • Route and secure power and Ethernet cabling through trays, conduit, or custom supports following safety and labeling standards
  • Work around live production equipment (robots, conveyors, tooling) and coordinate installations with engineering and operations teams

Field Adjustments & Quality

  • Perform on-line adjustments to camera aim, focus, and framing during station bring-up and trials
  • Verify mechanical integrity of installations (torque checks, fastener verification, guarding, and clearances)
  • Document as-built conditions using photos, sketches, and measurement logs; provide feedback for standard improvements

Safety & Work Practices

  • Safely operate ladders, scissor lifts, and platforms; follow fall protection, LOTO, and area access procedures
  • Maintain an organized work area and manage small hardware inventory
  • Support safe integration of hardware around robots, weld cells, ovens, and conveyors in partnership with Controls and EHS

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with manufacturing AI and engineering teams to translate concepts into practical installation solutions
  • Coordinate with shop engineers and operations to minimize downtime during installs and rework
  • Provide clear updates on installation status, issues, and material needs

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, fabrication, or industrial installation
  • Proficiency using hand and power tools (drills, saws, grinders, taps, drivers)
  • Experience with basic metal fabrication and structural assembly
  • Ability to work at heights and in active production environments
  • Ability to lift up to ~50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks
  • Comfortable using basic computer tools (email, spreadsheets, documentation tools)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with aluminum extrusion systems (80/20 or similar)
  • Prior installation work in Body Shop, Paint Shop, or General Assembly environments
  • Ability to read simple mechanical drawings and transfer dimensions to physical installs
  • Basic understanding of industrial cabling (Ethernet, power, strain relief, labeling)
  • Exposure to machine vision, sensors, or automation projects
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, controls, operations, and contractors

Behavioral Expectations

  • Ownership: Takes responsibility for quality and completeness of installations
  • Safety First: Consistently follows safety standards and escalates risks early
  • Bias for Action: Works efficiently while maintaining quality in fast-paced environments
  • Collaboration: Communicates clearly and constructively across teams
  • Craftsmanship: Delivers clean, repeatable, and serviceable installations
