We’re currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer II, Machine Shop opportunity with a leading space and defense technology company focused on reliably and repeatedly launching, landing, and operating space systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced rocket production environment, working closely with the machine shop and engineering teams to help turn designs into high-quality rocket components and assemblies ready for testing. You’ll play a key role in improving manufacturability, production processes, cycle times, and overall hardware delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the liaison between the machine shop and engineering teams
  • Provide design and manufacturing feedback to improve cost and production efficiency
  • Ensure on-time delivery of rocket components from CAD models through production and testing
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes and cycle times
  • Research new manufacturing methods and production processes
  • Work with design teams to ensure component manufacturability
  • Manage lookaheads for long-lead manufacturing tasks
  • Implement quick-changeover improvements
  • Take full accountability for assigned hardware
  • Create and maintain work instructions
  • Identify production issues and work with Quality on corrective actions
  • Coordinate with Tooling and Programming teams to ensure job readiness
  • Support conceptual design and sourcing of workholding

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR 5+ years of machine shop experience performing similar responsibilities
  • Experience with CAD software such as Pro-E, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or NX
  • Advanced understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5
  • Ability to develop CAD models and engineering drawings
  • Experience with process development involving casting, forging, metallic 3D printing, or sheet metal
  • CNC programming and/or machining experience
  • Experience setting up and running CNC machines
  • Strong tooling knowledge
  • Experience with budget and schedule planning
  • Data analysis and capacity planning experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Aerospace and startup experience is a plus.
