Job Overview
We are seeking a Power Systems Engineer
to support engineering and construction activities for renewable energy and transmission projects. This role focuses on power system analysis, modeling, and interconnection support
for wind, solar, battery energy storage, and transmission/substation projects. The engineer will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, including ISOs, utilities, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance with reliability standards and successful grid interconnections.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise across generation interconnection processes and operational requirements.
- Support wind, solar, battery energy storage, and transmission projects through power system analysis and modeling.
- Develop and validate PSS®E, PSLF, and PSCAD models for renewable generation facilities.
- Perform and review steady-state, dynamic, short-circuit, stability, and voltage studies.
- Monitor evolving interconnection requirements and advise stakeholders on system impacts.
- Assess compliance with IBR standards(IEEE 2800, Grid Forming IBR, and similar requirements).
- Ensure adherence to regional modeling and reliability standards.
- Coordinate reliability and economic studies with ISOs, utilities, and transmission operators.
- Develop software tools to improve system reliability and operational efficiency.
- Prepare technical documentation, presentations, and participate in meetings.
- Represent company interests when interfacing with regulatory agencies and external partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of generation interconnection procedures across U.S. ISOs, utilities, and transmission operators.
- Experience with power system analysis tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, TSAT, and GE PSLF.
- Solid understanding of power system fundamentals, including power flow, stability, voltage regulation, and reactive power support.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
