Project Manager (Battery Energy Storage Systems – BESS)

Location: Juno Beach, FL

Schedule: Standard Office Hours

Duration: 12-Month Contract

Pay Rate:$44-49/hour



Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for leading advanced technical, financial, and regulatory planning for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from early development through construction readiness. This role applies advanced engineering, economic, and project management principles to optimize project scope, risk allocation, and financial feasibility across complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead pre-construction planning and optimization for utility-scale BESS projects by integrating:
    • Engineering design
    • Financial modeling
    • Procurement strategy
    • Regulatory requirements
  • Manage cross-functional project development teams to ensure resources are aligned with project schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate project development activities involving:
    • Environmental permitting
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Cultural resource reviews
    • Land acquisition
    • Interconnection
    • Other critical development variables
  • Develop and optimize project technical scope to maximize both technical performance and financial viability.
  • Support origination and development teams during:
    • Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) negotiations
    • Generator Interconnection Agreement (GIA) negotiations
    • Jurisdictional and permitting requirements
  • Coordinate engineering, estimating, and procurement efforts to support project design and financial model development.
  • Utilize market data to strengthen project financial models and business case assumptions.
  • Present financial models and project recommendations to business units and executive leadership for budget approvals.
  • Source, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts for services including:
    • Geotechnical investigations
    • Surveying
    • Engineering services
    • EPC/PC construction services
  • Represent Engineering & Construction (E&C) interests throughout assigned projects.
  • Utilize project management software and reporting tools to manage project data and track key performance indicators.
  • Communicate regularly with:
    • Executive Leadership
    • Suppliers and contractors
    • Regulatory agencies
    • Local communities
    • Internal stakeholders
  • Present project status updates, risks, and mitigation strategies to various levels of management.
  • Ensure a seamless transition of projects into the construction phase by delivering a complete and executable construction plan to the Construction Project Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, or project economics preferred.
  • Strong project management, communication, analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with renewable energy projects, including:
    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
    • Electricity markets
    • Renewable generation
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Six Sigma certification or experience.
  • Experience with project financial modeling and commercial contract negotiations.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel to project sites.
