Sustaining Reliability Engineering Technician
100% Onsite – Normal, IL
Pay Range: $45–$60/hr.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, minimum 10-hour shifts between 6 AM – 8 PM (1-hour unpaid lunch). Some Saturday work may be required based on business needs.

Position Overview:
We’re seeking a Sustaining Reliability Engineering Technician
to support advanced electric vehicle system testing at a state-of-the-art facility in Normal, IL. In this hands-on role, you’ll collaborate with test engineers to install, maintain, and operate complex powertrain testing equipment. Key Responsibilities:
- Work directly with test engineers to install, configure, and maintain a variety of powertrain test systems and test properties.
- Troubleshoot test equipment and test failures, providing detailed feedback to engineering teams.
- Execute test procedures effectively to minimize equipment downtime.
- Disassemble and reassemble production and prototype components as part of test preparation.
- Develop and maintain electronic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); help train team members on consistent execution.
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure all equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
- Create and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient lab or test environment.
- Attend daily team meetings and communicate updates on work performed.
- Prioritize high-impact tasks and meet critical deadlines during active testing.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a technician role, preferably within automotive, electric vehicle, or powertrain testing environments.
- Proven ability to work safely and efficiently in a hands-on, lab-based role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience disassembling/reassembling mechanical or electrical systems.
- Familiarity with reliability or durability testing is a plus.
- Ability to follow procedures closely while contributing to process improvements.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, including use of electronic systems to track work.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including occasional Saturdays, and longer shifts during critical test cycles.
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
