Research Associate – Analytical Chemistry

We’re partnering with a growing biotech company operating at the intersection of synthetic biology, biomanufacturing, and sustainable chemistry. The organization is focused on developing scalable biological solutions that replace traditionally sourced or petrochemical-derived molecules, enabling more efficient and sustainable production routes across multiple industries.
Base salary:$65-75,000 per annum, with flexibility for the right candidate.
About the role
We are seeking a Research Associate in Analytical Chemistry to support a fast-paced R&D environment focused on engineered microbial systems and enzymatic bioprocesses. You will be working on the analytical characterization of a wide range of biologically produced compounds generated through fermentation and biocatalysis, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary scientists across discovery and process development teams.
This is a hands-on lab-based role with strong exposure to method development and real-world problem solving in a highly collaborative setting. It’s well suited to someone looking to deepen their expertise in analytical science while contributing to cutting-edge biochemical innovation.
What you’ll be doing
- Execute and follow established analytical methods (SOPs) to quantify small molecules and biologics
- Run and maintain routine analysis using chromatography-based techniques
- Support preparation, processing, and clear reporting of analytical data for cross-functional teams
- Contribute to the development, optimization, and validation of new analytical methods
- Assist in troubleshooting instrument and method-related issues as they arise
What we’re looking for
- BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field
- 1+ year of hands-on experience in a laboratory setting
- Practical experience with HPLC and/or GC systems
- Strong core lab skills (pipetting, weighing, solution prep, etc.)
- Confident use of Excel for data handling and reporting
- Strong analytical mindset with good problem-solving ability in a lab environment
Nice to have
- Exposure to LC-MS or GC-MS instrumentation
- Experience with method development, optimization, or validation
- Familiarity with interpreting complex analytical datasets and troubleshooting assay performance
