We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Instrumentation & Electrical Designer
to support the design and drafting of industrial projects. The role involves managing project deliverables in alignment with industry standards and internal guidelines, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all design-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and facilitate project design and drafting processes, including:
- Assigning electrical equipment and instrument tagging numbers
- Assigning conduit and cable numbers
- Resolving drawing development issues
- Updating record drawings as required
- Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment/instrument lists for plant, pipeline, and related facility projects
- Contribute to the development of Project Scopes, Engineering/Design Scopes, and Construction Scopes for contract establishment with third parties
- Participate in project meetings to understand client requirements and provide technical input for efficient and effective designs
- Assist in reviewing man-hour estimates and work schedules to optimize project execution
- Coordinate distribution of design packages to ensure stakeholder input and proper information flow
- Deliver design and drafting services for time- and budget-critical projects, as well as preliminary project development
- Communicate with vendors regarding material quotes and availability; create parts lists via material take-offs to ensure timely procurement
- Develop material data sheets and generate material requisitions for project manager approval
- Maintain organized records of documents and correspondence related to technical design issues
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard drawings
- Maintain expertise in design and drafting, leveraging specialized resources and technology as needed
- Assist in the creation and implementation of specifications and procedures to optimize costs and efficiency in drawing and documentation processes
- Coordinate with Project Managers, purchasing agents, inspectors, engineering contractors, and construction contractors on design, materials, and construction issues
- Provide guidance to team members to facilitate access to required information using departmental tools and methods
- Support CADD operations and daily system drafting activities
Requirements:
- Must have senior-level experience in instrumentation and electrical design
- Strong knowledge of PFD, P&ID, layout drawings, and material specification processes
- Excellent communication skills for coordination with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability and willingness to travel by air or automobile to project/facility sites as required
