Overview
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of people, technology, and operations. The position focuses on helping teams understand risk, make informed decisions, and move work forward in a secure, efficient, and confident manner.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with business, infrastructure, and operational technology (OT) teams to understand real-world system usage and align cybersecurity practices with business needs. This role emphasizes translating technical risks into actionable insights rather than enforcing controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted partner to business and operational teams
- Translate cybersecurity risks (e.g., vulnerabilities, OT exposures) into clear business impact and actionable options
- Support decision-making by outlining risk, trade-offs, and remediation strategies
- Assist with security reviews across OT environments and hybrid IT/OT architectures
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to understand real-world system usage
- Support secure integration of new assets, vendors, and acquisitions
- Help prioritize remediation efforts based on risk and operational impact
- Track remediation commitments and timelines
- Identify recurring issues and systemic risk patterns
- Contribute to risk assessments, exception reviews, and cybersecurity documentation
- Gather and document security requirements in a business-friendly format
- Develop clear summaries, risk narratives, and visual reports for stakeholders
- Standardize processes and templates to improve efficiency and reduce rework
Required Skills & Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), or industrial environments
- Energy, utilities, gas, or other critical infrastructure sectors
- IT infrastructure, networking, or systems administration
- Cybersecurity, risk management, or vulnerability management
Core competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Curiosity and a proactive learning mindset
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Not heavily hands-on or deeply technical; focus is on business alignment
- Strong interpersonal and communication (“soft”) skills
- Ability to bridge the gap between cybersecurity and business teams
- Understanding of vulnerabilities, exposure, and risk reduction strategies
- Familiarity with networking and secure system practices
- Experience in OT environments and understanding of OT-specific terminology
- Awareness of how to secure industrial systems and environments
- Exposure to tools related to simulation, networking, or OT systems is a plus
- Self-driven learning and initiative are highly valued
- Not focused purely on governance, risk, and compliance (GRC)
