About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Pipeline Integrity & Corrosion Engineer to support pipeline integrity, corrosion management, and asset reliability initiatives for a leading natural gas utility in Southern California.
This position will focus on evaluating pipeline conditions, assessing corrosion and mechanical defects, interpreting inspection data, and recommending appropriate mitigation and repair strategies to maintain the safe and reliable operation of natural gas infrastructure.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in Fitness-for-Service (FFS) assessments, in-line inspection (ILI), Direct Assessment (DA), and corrosion engineering, along with strong technical judgment and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Pipeline Integrity & Fitness-for-Service
-
Perform engineering assessments of pipeline integrity, including corrosion, dents, cracks, and other mechanical damage features.
-
Conduct Fitness-for-Service evaluations using recognised assessment methodologies and tools, including API 579, RSTRENG, CorLAS, MAT-8, or equivalent approaches.
-
Analyse pipeline inspection and assessment results to determine asset condition, remaining strength, and appropriate mitigation requirements.
-
Evaluate pipeline defects and provide technically justified recommendations for repair, monitoring, or further investigation.
-
Support the development and implementation of pipeline integrity management strategies.
Corrosion Engineering & Mitigation
-
Evaluate internal and external corrosion mechanisms affecting natural gas pipelines and associated equipment.
-
Support the implementation and maintenance of corrosion prevention and mitigation programmes.
-

-
Investigate corrosion-related failures and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
-
Coordinate material investigations and technical evaluations to support long-term asset reliability.
Inspection, Assessment & Pipeline Repair
-
Review and interpret in-line inspection (ILI) data, Direct Assessment (DA) findings, and nondestructive evaluation (NDE) results.
-
Assess inspection findings to support engineering decisions regarding pipeline integrity and repair requirements.
-
Coordinate with inspection specialists, field personnel, and engineering teams to address identified integrity concerns.
-
Support pipeline repair planning and evaluation of appropriate remediation methods.
-
Contribute to pipeline inspection, maintenance, and integrity improvement activities.
Engineering Documentation & Collaboration
-
Prepare detailed engineering assessments, technical reports, recommendations, and supporting documentation.
-
Maintain accurate records of integrity evaluations, inspection findings, and corrosion mitigation activities.
-
Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and other stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.
-
Communicate complex engineering findings clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.
-
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to pipeline safety, reliability, and integrity management.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
-
Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within natural gas transmission, distribution, pipeline integrity, or corrosion engineering.
-
Demonstrated experience conducting Fitness-for-Service evaluations for corrosion, dents, and crack-related pipeline defects.
-
Experience with recognised pipeline assessment methodologies such as API 579, RSTRENG, CorLAS, MAT-8, or equivalent tools.
-
Advanced understanding of in-line inspection (ILI), Direct Assessment (DA), and nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods.
-
Experience interpreting pipeline inspection results and developing technically sound integrity and repair recommendations.
