Senior Systems Process Engineer
Palo Alto, CA
Duration:
5 month contract
Pay:$78-83/hr
This Senior Systems Process Engineer role is responsible for defining and implementing end-to-end processes, methods, and tooling for product configuration, change, variant, release, and sign-off management within a Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) environment. The position ensures a continuous digital thread and full systems engineering traceability—from vehicle feature requirements through Over-the-Air (OTA) deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable processes, methods, and tool architectures for configuration and release management across software, hardware, and integrated ECU systems.
- Establish and maintain a seamless digital thread enabling end-to-end traceability from requirements to OTA delivery.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with homologation, quality, systems architecture, integration, hardware development, DevOps, and OTA teams to translate diverse requirements into effective, streamlined solutions.
- Build and operationalize configuration and release management processes across the entire product portfolio, from pure software to complex hardware-software combinations.
- Ensure a consistent single source of truth for product data, including BOM and SBOM, throughout the product lifecycle.
- Integrate configuration and release management capabilities into the broader engineering tool ecosystem, including PLM, ALM, and CI/CD platforms.
- Enable scalable, automated compliance workflows aligned with regulatory and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in senior or technical leadership roles designing configuration and release systems for complex products or embedded systems (excluding enterprise IT or ITIL-focused environments).
- Strong background in software-first or SDV-centric product development, ideally within an OEM or high-tech Tier-1 environment.
- Hands-on experience with OTA delivery at scale and mature CI/CD pipelines.
- Cross-industry experience in areas such as eVTOL/Urban Air Mobility, aerospace, space systems, or medical devices is highly valued—particularly where agile development intersects with rigorous safety certification (e.g., DO-178C, IEC 62304).
- Expert knowledge of UNECE R156 (SUMS) and ISO 26262, with demonstrated experience implementing automated, workflow-driven compliance (“compliance as code”).
- Strong communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
- Proven ability to think strategically, align execution with long-term objectives, and operate effectively across organizational boundaries.
