SME Engineer (Civil/Geotechnical)

Role Overview
This role provides civil and geotechnical engineering expertise
for energy projects from early planning through construction and operation. You’ll be part of the Engineering & Construction Civil Subject Matter Expert (SME) team, collaborating with specialists in structural, geotechnical, site development, and stormwater engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Support engineering for wind, solar, energy storage, clean fuels, substation, and transmission projects
- Develop and promote civil & geotechnical best practices
- Participate in design and constructability reviews
- Help resolve issues that could impact project budget or schedule
- Assist with project scope, risk assessment, and mitigation planning
- Coordinate with external consultants when needed
- Conduct due diligence on new technologies
- Review equipment/material issues and non-conformance reports
- Update specifications and incorporate lessons learned
- Provide feedback on supplier performance
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in a U.S. state
- 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, including:
- Field investigations
- Lab data review
- Geotechnical reporting
- Construction observation
- Specification & drawing review
- Complex problem analysis
- Project management
