Position Summary
The Solar Repower Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing all pre-construction activities
for utility-scale solar repower projects. This role ensures projects are fully planned, permitted, and prepared for construction execution while maintaining safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of existing solar assets, repower feasibility, and how optimized repower designs can be integrated into operating facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Management
- Lead pre-construction project teams from development handoff through execution turnover
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and risk registers across multiple concurrent projects
- Coordinate with business management, development, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget while proactively identifying and mitigating risks
Engineering & Design Management
- Oversee engineering design activities across electrical, civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines
- Review engineering deliverables, specifications, and design packages
- Coordinate interconnection studies and grid integration requirements
- Drive design optimization efforts to improve constructability and project value
Permitting & Regulatory Compliance
- Partner with environmental teams to identify required permits and regulatory approvals
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, utilities, and local authorities
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations
Procurement & Contract Management
- Support procurement activities including equipment specifications, vendor qualification, and contract negotiations
- Manage safe harbor equipment requirements and tax credit compliance timelines
- Coordinate delivery schedules and DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) requirements
- Review and approve vendor submittals and technical documentation
Financial Management
- Monitor project budgets and cost forecasts throughout the pre-construction phase
- Support cost capitalization and financial reporting processes
- Coordinate with finance teams on funding and financial close activities
- Track and report key financial and project performance metrics
Stakeholder Management
- Lead project meetings, design reviews, and milestone presentations
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues to senior leadership
- Coordinate with operations teams to support handoff planning and commissioning readiness
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy pre-construction project management or engineering
- Experience with utility interconnection processes
- Working knowledge of solar construction practices
- PMP certification preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems; battery storage experience a plus
- Knowledge of power systems, grid interconnection, and utility regulations
- Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with safe harbor provisions and renewable energy tax credits
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling tools
- Advanced Excel skills
