Our client, a leading innovator in the automotive and mobility space, is seeking a hands-on Systems Test Lab Technician to support its testing and validation lab in Tustin, CA. In this 12-month contract role, you will prepare samples, run fastening and materials tests, and build up test stands and assets for functional system testing. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills, has run laboratory test equipment, and thrives in a fast-paced development environment.
Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will support a variety of system test and validation projects within the Systems Test Lab. Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare samples and execute fastening and materials tests
- Build up test stands and assets to support lab testing
- Set up system test buck systems for various functional system tests
Essential Job Duties and Job Functions:
- Assemble and tear down complex mechanical and electrical systems
- Fabricate special test equipment, including fixtures, test boxes, and test harnesses
- Operate automatic test equipment and automated programmable test equipment
- Perform torque measurement and fastener testing
- Use standard lab and shop equipment, including torque wrenches, microscopes, imaging equipment, digital multimeters, high-speed cutting tools, hand tools, and precision measurement equipment
- Record scientific and engineering data accurately
- Move and lift heavy boxes and fixtures
- Proactively identify and fill gaps where needed, working flexible hours as project needs require
Knowledge and Skills:
Must have:
- Automatic test equipment
- Fastener testing
- Torque measurement
- Experience running laboratory test equipment
Required:
- Experience with power tools and mechanical tools
- Experience fabricating special test equipment such as fixtures, test boxes, and test harnesses
- Experience with automated programmable test equipment
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours and a passion for getting jobs done
- Hands-on approach, with the ability to navigate ambiguity
- Eagerness to learn new equipment and testing methodologies across mechanical, chemistry, electrical, and environmental techniques

Education and Experience:
