Job Description

The Senior Tax Accountant will provide specialized guidance on federal, state, and local income tax matters, ensuring accurate preparation, analysis, and compliance of tax-related filings. This role involves reviewing financial data, preparing tax forecasts, supporting tax audits, and contributing to tax planning initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance

  • Prepare cash tax forecasts.
  • Analyze requirements for estimated tax payments and extension filings; prepare corresponding documentation.

Tax Accounting

  • Prepare and/or review specialized tax accounting analyses and calculations.
  • Complete quarterly reconciliations of tax accounts with supporting analysis.

Tax Audits

  • Draft responses to information requests, notices, inquiries, and other correspondence from tax authorities with appropriate judgment and discretion.

Tax Planning

  • Conduct specialized tax research and contribute to targeted tax planning projects.
  • Provide guidance to junior team members on tactical tax initiatives.
  • Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities within the tax function.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • 8+ years of relevant tax experience.
  • Experience working in public accounting or corporate tax environments.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • Additional certifications in related disciplines preferred.

Additional Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experience with financial systems.
  • Strong communication, documentation, negotiating, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading portions of projects and collaborating with project managers and finance teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interact professionally across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to provide direction to outsourced partners.
  • Must adhere to company rules and safety protocols, including environmental and pollution-prevention requirements.
