Job Responsibilities:
In this role, you will support complex operational analysis and contribute to projects that enhance risk management and decision-making processes in the trading risk domain. This role requires close coordination with front-office teams, counterparties, and legal departments to ensure transaction accuracy and legal compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and participating in medium to large-scale risk-related projects.
- Performing comprehensive reviews of legal agreements and trade confirmations.
- Coordinating transaction confirmations with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
- Conducting statistical and operational analyses to support informed risk decisions.
- Ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across transactions.
- Collaborating with multiple business functions including trading, legal, risk management, and accounting.
- Mentoring and guiding junior analysts as needed.
Essential Duties and Job Functions: - Coordinate and manage confirmations for complex and non-standard deals.
- Ensure accurate and timely capture of transactions in risk systems.
- Review and interpret legal documents such as ISDAs, NAESBs, EEIs, and CSAs.
- Resolve confirmation disputes and facilitate legal execution of transactions.
- Assess and communicate legal and operational risks associated with trading activity.
- Develop reports and visualizations to enhance transparency and decision-making.
- Support counterparty onboarding, including the collection and verification of documentation.
- Drive initiatives to improve team processes and efficiency.
Knowledge & Skills: - Proven experience with derivative and physical trading agreements.
- Deep understanding of legal documentation and contract terms (ISDA, NAESB, EEI, CSA).
- Familiarity with trade lifecycle management and commodity trading operations.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and Power BI; Python knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with energy trading and risk management systems (e.g., Endur) is advantageous.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and manage time-sensitive tasks.
Education & Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in business, law, finance, or related field.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience, ideally in trading confirmations or legal risk management.
- Prior experience in a commodity trading environment is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to disciplined risk management and legal compliance.
