We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to support the analysis, design, and development of technical and systems-based training solutions. This role partners closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), stakeholders, and project teams to translate complex technical information into effective learning experiences for diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
- Conduct training needs assessments and job/task analyses, including facilitating focus groups and collaborating with SMEs to identify business and learning requirements
- Research, design, and develop training plans, scope, timelines, and deliverables (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, job aids, user guides, quick reference guides, eLearning modules, and virtual/instructor-led courses)
- Translate complex technical documentation (functional specifications, test scripts, vendor documentation, etc.) into clear, effective training materials for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Consult with stakeholders to recommend appropriate training solutions aligned with project goals
- Manage client and stakeholder expectations and provide regular project status updates
- Facilitate SME interviews, workshops, and focus groups to gather content
- Present and facilitate train-the-trainer sessions
- Manage multiple training projects simultaneously, including scope, milestones, schedules, deliverables, and resources
- Identify, troubleshoot, and mitigate training-related issues and risks
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, business, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing and developing systems-based and/or technical training materials
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources
- Proven experience applying instructional design and adult learning methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SnagIt
- Hands-on experience with at least one eLearning authoring tool such as Articulate Storyline or Rise, Adobe Captivate, or Camtasia
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience facilitating training sessions
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, SMEs, vendors, and project teams
- Strong project management skills with experience handling multiple concurrent initiatives
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- Proactive, organized, adaptable, and a strong team player
